Missy Iley has been the Associate Music Minister at First Baptist Lewisville since 2011, has coordinated the children’s choirs ministry called WiRED, since 2009, and directed various children’s choirs since 2001. Over these past 16 years, Missy has created and developed music curriculum for Pre-K through grade 5. This “WiRED2” curriculum is designed to teach basic music theory & history as well as disciple kids in fun and creative ways. Missy has also worked extensively with students and currently directs the FBC Lewisville’s Priority Middle School Choir.
Missy’s passion is teaching children of all ages the importance of worship, and to instill in their hearts, souls, and minds that there is so much more to worshiping God than just singing. It should be an all over the body experience (yes, even in a Baptist church), and there is no better time to begin than when children are babies and no better teachers than their parents. We all should internalize Psalm 100:1-3, “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”
Since 2002, Missy has lived in Highland Village with her husband, Shawn, and her two beautiful daughters, Lauren (21) & Sarah (17). She is a graduate of Dallas Baptist University.
