Welcome to the LAC Musical Theater Department. At the LAC, we offer the highest quality of programming and training to our students. Each semester our students perform in a full length musical with set, props, lights, sound, choreography and staging. We believe by offering performance classes we are developing our young performers and giving them practice on stage. We do this all through the love of Christ and hope that our students feel loved and noticed as they walk into our LAC Musical Theater Classes.

Cafe Murder directed by Elizabeth Kerns
Something mysterious is happening at the neighborhood café! When a surprising crime turns the café upside down, a group of clever characters must follow the clues, question the suspects, and work together to solve the mystery. Filled with humor, surprises, and memorable characters, Cafe Murder is a fun and family-friendly whodunit that will keep audiences guessing until the very end!

PreK Musical Theatre - I like to move it!
Get ready to sing, dance, play, and perform! In this energetic musical theatre class, our youngest performers will explore movement, music, imagination, and storytelling through age-appropriate songs, games, and creative activities. Students will build confidence, coordination, listening skills, and stage presence while having lots of fun with friends. This exciting class encourages creativity and self-expression and concludes with a special showcase for family and friends. Perfect for little ones who love to move it, move it!

Homeschool Theatre Production Class - Contemporary Broadway Revue
Bring stories to life through the exciting world of musical theatre! Our Homeschool Theatre Production Class - Contemporary Broadway class gives students the opportunity to rehearse and perform a 25 minute scene and ensemble contemporary musical theatre piece while receiving quality training in acting, singing, choreography, and stage performance.
Throughout the semester, students will develop strong performance skills while learning the value of teamwork, creativity, discipline, and confidence. Rehearsals focus on character development, stage presence, vocal technique, choreography, and storytelling in a fun, encouraging, and Christ-centered environment.
Whether your child is stepping onto the stage for the first time or has previous performance experience, this class offers a place to grow as both a performer and an individual.
The semester concludes with public performances where students showcase all they have learned for family, friends, and the community.

Auditions for this group will take place on Saturday, June 27th. Please email [email protected] if you are interested! This group will compete in March at the National Youth Theatre Experience in Louisville, Kentucky. They will also be representing our conservatory at public events this year.

Trolls JR. is based on the irreverent DreamWorks Animation movie franchise and features a colorful, wondrous world populated by hilariously unforgettable characters. The show follows the overly optimistic Trolls, constantly with a song on their lips, and the comically pessimistic Bergens, who are only happy when they have Trolls in their stomach.

The Rainbow Fish directed by Elizabeth Kerns
Rainbow Fish is the most beautiful fish in all of the ocean, and the only one of his (or her!) kind. But when Rainbow Fish refuses to share his vibrant, shimmering scales, the whole ocean seems to turn against the vain creature. Unhappy that no one adores him anymore, the Rainbow Fish seeks out the wise Octopus, who helps him learn that it’s far better to be admired for being kind than for being beautiful.

The session concludes with a special performance for family and friends where our little stars can shine on stage!

Theatre Info and Fees...
Can I stay and watch my child? Parents are welcome to mingle in the Lobby and enjoy some fellowship. Our theater classes are closed to other adults. If you need your child, please let us know and we will have one of our adult leaders walk them down to the lobby.
When will they know their part? We will assign parts and the cast listing will be given prior to the first rehearsal. Then they will take home their script from rehearsal, so they will immediately be able to begin learning their part.
Will there be a costume fee? Yes. This fee will help defer the costs of making their main costume pieces and making the set and prop pieces for each production. The students will be responsible to obtain some pieces for their own costumes. A detailed description will be provided by the director.
How do you run auditions? Auditions are very simple and comfortable. They are also valuable to the learning process. We will hold video auditions and then do callbacks in person. Audition information will be sent out once a student is registered in the musical. Everyone will have something special to do in our show!
What if my student needs to miss rehearsal? Please let our directors know if your student cannot attend a class/rehearsal. Every rehearsal is very important so we ask that your student makes attending a priority. If a student misses too many rehearsals, then they may not be in certain songs or dances.
