Christy has had a love for music from her earliest memories. Her music journey began on an educational family trip to Williamsburg, VA, when at the age of 6 she watched the Fife and Drum Corp march down the colonial streets. She begged her parents to buy her a fife souvenir, and on the 13 hour drive home, she started playing hymns and other songs by ear in their entirety. Her parents were amazed, and it was at this point, her gift of music was recognized, encouraged, and fanned into flame!
Elementary through high school, Christy had the privilege of taking private lessons and theory lessons from a retired collegiate music professor. She received her Bachelors of Music with Flute emphasis from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. She has had the immense blessing of traveling across the US, as well as to Norway, Sweden, and Denmark leading music ministry concerts that shared the hope of the gospel through music. In 2008, she was asked to plan and lead the musical worship for an Israel tour through the Moody Bible Institute/Morning Star tours.
She has led K-8 classroom music at two different classical Christian schools in Chicago, IL, and started instrumental band programs at each. She also taught private lessons in Chicago’s China Town.
Since moving to Dallas, Christy has partnered with area private schools teaching private lessons and leading specialized sectionals for woodwinds. She also taught lessons out of her home studio.
Christy desires to see the lost art of reading music rediscovered. God has graciously given us the gift of music, for bringing refreshment to our souls and with it, glorifying God and extolling his name! She has known the Lord more deeply through this gift, and desires to teach others to find the joy, beauty and FUN in this gift of music, as well!
“Sing unto the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things... Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—shout for joy before the Lord, the King.” (Psalm 98: 1, 4-6)
