Jennifer Freeman opened the LAC eight years ago and is grateful for all the students that God has brought to this program. She currently serves as the Creative/Managing Director and directs the Theatre Co. and Junior Musical Theatre Performing Classes. She also serves as the Fine Arts Theatre Director at Liberty Christian School. While at Liberty, she received the Best Direction Award at the Broadway Dallas HSMT Awards for Fiddler on the Roof. For the past three years, Liberty has been nominated for best musical at Broadway Dallas, Betty Buckley Awards and Schmidt and Jones Awards. She established the Theatre Co. five years ago and paved a way for them to compete at the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. They were honored to receive the Outstanding Award in Music in 2021. Emma Grace received the All Festival Lead Performer award in 2022.
In 2023, the Theatre Co. received the Excellence in Dance Award. Before she moved to Texas she lived in Florida. While in Florida, she was the Creative Director of Woodland Fine Arts Academy, which was comprised of over 650 students. She also taught all the Musical Theater Classes and the Select Troupe, which was awarded Outstanding Performance honors at the 2017 Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta. Her Select Troupe got to perform in front of the 6000 attendees at the Cobb Galleria Center. She also served as the Children’s Minister at her church and directed all the Kidz Praize ministries. In Tennessee, she directed the School of Fine Arts, taught at Volunteer Community College, and taught at Hendersonville Christian Academy.
She has been directing, teaching, and performing in musical theater for over 25 years. As a performer, her favorite roles include Marian in “The Music Man,” Maria in “The Sound of Music,” Eliza Doolittle in “My Fair Lady,” Violet in “Side Show,” Julie in “Carousel,” and Kathy in “The Last Five Years.” She appeared in the National Tour of "Wizard of Oz." She has performed in the following theaters Dallas Theater Center, Casa Manana, Lyric Stage, Dallas Summer Musicals, Theater Three, Nashville Stages, OKC Lyric Theater, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, TUTS, Music Theater of Kansas City, STAGES, Forrestburgh Theater in New York, and Cohoes Theater in New York. She also has been a guest soloist with the OKC Philharmonic, the Fort Collins Symphony, and the Dallas Symphony.
Jennifer graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee where she received her Bachelors of Music Degree in Vocal Performance. She then went on to receive her Masters of Music Degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Southern Methodist University, At SMU, she was selected and placed in the Concerto Competition with her performance of "Knoxville." She also appeared in many of their operas including The Magic Flute (Queen) and Street Scene (Rose). Jennifer also was chosen to study abroad in Graz, Austria at the AIMS Institute.
Her greatest gifts are her precious daughters and husband. She loves displaying God’s creativity through the arts. She also recently played the role of Betty Rogers in "Will Rogers Follies" at the Greater Lewisville Community Theatre and the role of Ms.Rose in "Hello Dolly" at Casa Manana. She is a proud member of the Actor's Equity Association. Her life verse is Proverbs 3: 5-6, “Trust in the the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding but acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your path.”
